Laura Rey Alba
Laura Rey Alba is the Head of the Firm’s Tax and Estate Planning practice. She has more than eight years of experience advising Colombian companies, foreign investors, and high-net-worth families on a broad range of tax matters.
Her practice focuses on tax and estate planning, including the structuring and reorganization of family assets and the coordinated application of domestic and international tax regulations. She also has experience in the tax structuring of renewable energy projects and M&A transactions.
Her practice encompasses general tax advisory, tax litigation and controversies, as well as advising non-profit organizations on qualification processes and compliance matters under Colombia’s Special Tax Regime (Régimen Tributario Especial – RTE). She has advised Colombian companies and foreign investors on the tax aspects of investments and business operations across various sectors of the economy.
Laura holds a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, a Specialization in Tax Law from Universidad de los Andes, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She also serves as Academic Coordinator and Lecturer of the Tax Law Certificate Program at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
Prior to joining Gamboa, García, Roldán & Co., Laura was a member of the Tax and Customs practice group at Pérez-Llorca Gómez-Pinzón, where she advised clients on estate planning matters, renewable energy projects, M&A, and tax litigation. Previously, she was part of the Tax and Customs team at Posse Herrera Ruiz, where she focused on estate reorganizations and tax advisory matters.
