Juan Ignacio Gamboa has 25 years of experience assisting national and international clients in civil, commercial, administrative and dispute resolutions matters, among others. Regarding civil and commercial law, he has ample experience in commercial contracts, negotiable instruments, insolvency, consumer protection and competition law, as well as estate planning and consulting on family and estates issues. He assists national and international clients in administrative law, administrative contracts and governmental bids. He has experience in contractual and tort liability and represents clients in settlements and judicial proceedings involving commercial and administrative issues and in local and international arbitration tribunals. Juan Ignacio coordinates the firm’s participation in international networks and leads the areas of civil, commercial and administrative law and litigation and arbitration.

Juan Ignacio is founding partner of Gamboa, García & Cardona Abogados and was founding partner of Gamboa & Del Hierro Abogados. He was also partner of the firm Cárdenas & Cárdenas Abogados (Dentons Cardenas & Cardenas). He worked in the Presidency of Colombia as counsel for the Presidential Office for Youth and Family. He has been law professor in University of Los Andes for over ten years in the courses of Introduction to Law, Roman Law, Legal Methodology, Torts and Contracts and Private International Law. He also was in charge of the international arbitration course within the Commercial Law postgraduate degree in Universidad del Rosario.

Juan Ignacio obtained his law degree in Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia) and performed his postgraduate studies in Université Panthéon-Assas Paris II (Paris, France) obtaining the title of Diplôme Supérieur de L’Université in Civil and Financial Law. He graduated from high school at Colegio San Carlos and studied in Culver Military Academy (Indiana, USA).
